History
Anametrica, Inc., based in Mt. Washington, Massachusetts, provides
consulting services based upon a powerful new methodology developed by its founder and
CEO, Gerry Allan. This methodology uses measurements of performance drivers and action
results to identify what works, what doesn't, and why for a
wide range of strategic, management, marketing, operations, and organizational programs
and initiatives. With such knowledge, businesses can focus on the most effective
approaches and avoid wasting time, money and effort on weak ones.
During nearly three decades of working with clients in banking,
architecture and engineering, software, manufacturing and telecommunications, Dr. Allan
observed too many instances of costly, time-consuming programs and approaches being
implemented without any real knowledge of whether or not they might work. In the end, some did, some didn't make any difference, and some made things worse.
But, because these were rarely repeated by the same group, no effort was typically made to
assess results and try to figure out what specifically they did to produce such results.
There was little or no learning and no transferable knowledge created.
Almost every action plan, program, initiative and approach that businesses
implement is an experiment an opportunity to learn.
Few businesses today, however, have the resources, tools and expertise required to
measure, analyze and understand the what happened. You must not only assess results but
also assess the situation, identify performance drivers, track actions, and identify
side-effects. To do this at reasonable cost, you must have available a wide range of
diagnostic, feedback and assessment tools. You need to have expertise that encompasses all
of the business activities that your actions may impact. And, finally, you need enough
action "experiments" to support a sound analysis.
With this goal in mind, Dr. Allan spent several years developing tools,
testing techniques, and evaluating applications. In early 2002, his methodology had
reached the point at which it could be introduced to clients and Anametrica was formed for
this purpose.
