This service area covers a wide range of improvement needs. Our focus here is on needs that can benefit from more detailed measurement and analysis of situations, assessment of approaches that might be adopted, and evaluation of results. Due to time pressures, many improvement programs and initiatives are developed and implemented on-the-fly, often with inadequate attention to critical factors, essential preparation, and sufficiently broad tracking of outcomes. The result frequently is unsatisfactory or worse. One approach to improving the success rate of such programs is through our collaborative projects. Each project involves a number of similar businesses who agree both to measuring programs more fully and to sharing the results of programs with others in the project. A second approach is simply to do the program preparation and assessment needed to make the implementation phase more effective. While few businesses today have the resources, expertise and tools to handle this task, we do. This service area comes closer to traditional consulting but we will try to focus it on needs that can benefit from better measurement and analysis.
